Registered sex offender accused of breaking into home and trapping residents in Santa Rosa

A registered sex offender was arrested in Santa Rosa on Friday night after allegedly breaking into a home on Mohawk Street and trapping residents inside by repeatedly closing the front door. Edward Carver, 36, was also accused of peeping into a nearby window and making sexual remarks earlier that evening. Police found him hiding in bushes on Yuma Street following a search of the area.

Carver was booked into Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on $250,000 bail facing charges including burglary, false imprisonment, and peeking while loitering, plus a parole violation. According to California's Megan's Law database, Carver was convicted in 2024 of assaulting a minor with intent to rape and was released in 2026. His risk of re-offending was rated "above average" to "high" by state scoring criteria.
