Ex-Glendale police commander charged with sexual exploitation

Ex-Glendale Police Commander Jay O'Neill was indicted on six counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor in Jackson County, North Carolina. The 54-year-old was arrested September 17 in the State Farm Stadium area after Jackson County sheriffs requested assistance from Arizona authorities. Court documents allege O'Neill received explicit photos and video of a 15-year-old girl; a Maricopa County judge set his bond at $75,000 cash-only.

O'Neill is no longer employed by the Glendale Police Department, though the city did not specify whether he resigned or was terminated. The Arizona Department of Public Safety's Criminal Investigations Division coordinated with Glendale police to locate and arrest O'Neill without incident. A hearing is scheduled for September 28.
