Two NHS trusts to use speech-to-notes technology

Two NHS trusts in England will deploy speech-to-text technology that automatically generates clinical notes from patient consultations, following a successful eight-month pilot at Walsall Healthcare. The system, which reduced documentation time to under four minutes per patient, will initially roll out in emergency departments and outpatient services at The Royal Wolverhampton and Walsall Healthcare trusts, expanding across all areas by 2028. The ambient voice technology allows clinicians to focus on patient care by reducing administrative burden, with the pilot releasing tens of thousands of hours for frontline staff.
