Bridgeport business owner sentenced after sexually assaulting female customers in store basement

A Bridgeport store owner was sentenced to 86 months in prison, with 17 months to serve, after being convicted of sexually assaulting and unlawfully restraining female customers in the basement of his furniture store. Salem Hennawi, 64, lured at least four women to the basement of Salem Furniture between 2019 and 2021, asking them to test mattresses before assaulting or restraining them against their will. He faces lifetime sex offender registration, 10 years of probation following release, and a 30-year no-contact order with each victim.
