Nvidia Acquires Hugging Face for $12.9 Billion

Nvidia has agreed to acquire Hugging Face, an open-source AI platform founded in 2016, in a deal valued at $12.9 billion, according to The Information and confirmed by CNBC sources. The acquisition, part of ongoing negotiations, has not yet been formally signed and could still collapse. Neither company has publicly commented on the transaction.

The deal reflects Nvidia's strategy to strengthen its position in artificial intelligence development tools amid competition from OpenAI and Anthropic. Hugging Face, known as the "GitHub of AI," provides a platform enabling developers to build and deploy machine learning models.
