Storms bring heavy downpours, flooding to Western Pennsylvania region

Severe thunderstorms swept across Western Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 18, bringing heavy rain, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes that caused localized flooding. The National Weather Service confirmed two tornadoes touched down in the state, while severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings were issued across multiple counties including Allegheny, Butler, Clarion and Washington. Concert venues including the Pavilion at Star Lake and Kennywood Park closed or sheltered attendees as the storms passed through the region.
