A second suspect has been arrested in the September 3 shooting death of 17-year-old Trinity George near a daiquiri shop on Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans. Kerry Theriot, 32, was booked into Orleans Justice Center on Wednesday on a count of second-degree murder. Police say Theriot and Robert G. Rodriguez, 23, fatally shot George, then fled in a vehicle that state troopers chased across the Industrial Canal before it crashed.
Theriot evaded initial capture during a manhunt that closed several streets in the Gentilly Woods area. Rodriguez was arrested at the scene and is being held without bond on the murder charge, plus charges related to stolen firearm and marijuana possession. Theriot's bond hearing was scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court.
