Judge unseals files in Josh Jacobs case, record requests can proceed - Green Bay Press-Gazette

A Brown County Circuit Court judge on Sept. 24 unsealed records in the Josh Jacobs case, allowing public records requests to proceed under Wisconsin open records law. Green Bay Packers running back Jacobs pleaded no contest Sept. 10 to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property charges from a May 23 incident with an ex-girlfriend in Hobart. The Hobart/Lawrence Police Department will apply a balancing test between public access rights and those of the defendant and victim in deciding what records to release.

Judge Marc Hammer rejected the victim's request to permanently seal records, instead allowing information identifying the victim to be redacted while releasing other documents. Jacobs remains on the NFL's commissioner's exempt list and is barred from playing or practicing. The league has requested security video from the incident before determining the length of any suspension.
