Palestinian man killed in Israeli raid in occupied West Bank

Middle East Eye · June 26, 2026

Israeli soldiers shot and killed Mustafa Taha Khatib during a raid Thursday in the West Bank town of Sarta, west of Salfit, according to witnesses and family members. Khatib was critically wounded inside his home and died at Salfit Government Hospital. His family said Israeli troops prevented ambulances from reaching him for nearly two hours after the shooting.

The raid involved house searches and arrest operations targeting multiple Palestinians in the town. Khatib's uncle said soldiers forced their way into the room where Mustafa was sleeping and opened fire without warning. He described his nephew as a construction and agricultural worker with no known security affiliations who had lived on the property for four years.

The Israeli military did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The killing occurred amid a broader escalation of Israeli military operations in the occupied West Bank since October 2023, during which over 1,170 Palestinians have been killed.
