CT career training program in growing field gets $100K boost. Why it’s called ‘ground breaking’

Southern Connecticut State University and Connecticut's Social Equity Council are partnering to offer $100,000 in scholarships for cannabis industry career training courses, addressing a major barrier to enrollment. The 16-week online courses, which cost $2,200 and train specialists in cultivation, compliance, sales and related fields, will serve approximately 50 students from communities disproportionately harmed by cannabis criminalization. The scholarships are part of a broader effort to build a skilled workforce for Connecticut's growing cannabis market, which employed 4,169 people statewide as of 2024.
