Selective Service System seeks software to aid the draft

The Selective Service System opened bidding Wednesday for software to simulate military personnel requirements in the event of a national emergency requiring a draft. The independent agency, which maintains registration lists of males aged 18-25, seeks the tool to evaluate staffing needs, compare mobilization scenarios, and identify operational risks. Vendor quotes are due Aug. 14, ahead of a Dec. 18 deadline when SSS transitions to automatic registration of eligible males using federal databases.
