Penn State's Center for Socially Responsible Artificial Intelligence is launching the "Research-a-thon," a competition inviting all university researchers to submit examples of how generative AI has advanced their projects by Dec. 1. First-, second- and third-place winners will receive $5,000, $2,000 and $1,000 respectively, with $500 honorable mention awards, judged on innovation, AI's research contribution and impact on outcomes.
The competition is the sixth in CSRAI's series exploring generative AI's benefits and risks, following previous events examining bias, cheating, medical diagnosis, fake news detection and teaching applications. Submissions should describe AI's role in any research stage, from literature review to data analysis to results communication, with judges evaluating how thoroughly AI transformed both the research process and its findings.
