A Utah digital health startup, Nolla Health, launched a one-year pilot program Monday using artificial intelligence to prescribe acne treatments without in-person doctor visits. Patients pay $4.99 monthly, submit photos and health information, and receive AI-generated prescription recommendations for topical treatments, with weekly follow-ups and telehealth escalation available. The state's Office of AI Policy is overseeing the program under a special regulatory exception, with physician review of the first 100 patients' recommendations before dispensing, then after-the-fact review for the next 500 patients.
