Congo head coach Sébastien Desabre learned of his father's death publicly at a media conference Wednesday after his team lost 2-1 to England in the World Cup round of 16 in Atlanta, appearing visibly surprised by the announcement. Team spokesman Jerry Kalemo Ngoy revealed the death in French after the post-match questioning ended, though Ngoy said Thursday he had known of the passing before the game.
