Four Iowa State University research projects have received funding under the U.S. Department of Energy's Genesis Mission, announced July 22, as part of a national initiative to accelerate scientific discovery by integrating artificial intelligence, supercomputing, and quantum systems. Iowa State leads four projects while faculty collaborate on four additional efforts. The funded work includes DAISY, which develops decentralized AI agents to identify knowledge gaps across scientific data in materials research and crop breeding, and a spatial Bayesian framework to infer cloud behavior from radar data using AI-driven retrieval methods in partnership with Argonne National Laboratory.
