Former Jefferson Parish math teacher pleads guilty to sexual relationship with student

Blake Hazeltine, 28, a former math teacher at East Jefferson High School in Metairie, Louisiana, pleaded guilty Monday to felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile after admitting to a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student. Hazeltine, who met the girl in spring 2025, was arrested in December after a hospital nurse discovered him in the victim's room in September 2025. Judge Nancy Miller suspended a 10-year prison sentence and ordered 60 months of active probation; Hazeltine must register as a sex offender for 25 years.
