Fatal police shooting in Wisconsin sparks investigation, protest

A Madison, Wisconsin police officer shot and killed a man in his 30s Wednesday after the suspect injured the officer with a knife while resisting arrest, police said. Officers had responded to reports of bicycle theft and vehicle break-ins in the Marquette neighborhood; the man fled on a bicycle before the fatal encounter at an intersection. Gov. Tony Evers called for transparency and accountability as protesters gathered and held a candlelight vigil Thursday at a growing roadside memorial.
