Colorado’s new limits on sports betting deposits — and credit card ban — to take effect

Colorado's sports betting regulations take effect Wednesday, banning credit card deposits and limiting gamblers to six deposits per 24 hours. The rules, enacted through bipartisan Senate Bill 26-131 passed in May, aim to curb problem gambling and addiction, particularly among young men and boys. The law also prohibits sportsbooks from targeting anyone under 21 and bans advertising to audiences likely under 21.

Thirteen licensed online sportsbooks operate in Colorado, which saw $6.4 billion wagered on sports in the past year. Sportsbooks including FanDuel have notified customers of the changes. The law will require operators to report transactional data to the state Division of Gaming starting in 2028, with public reports released every three years beginning in 2029.
